Our mission is to work with local, state, and federal criminal justice systems, to help indigent defendants in criminal cases to have the right to the best legal representation that the courts will provide. One of the most sacred principles of our country's criminal justice system, is that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. The Indigent Project firmly believes that this principle clearly applies to those of indigent status as well.

Fair access in our criminal justice system is a fundamental principle of our nation. The Indigent Project engages attorneys to provide free legal help to indigent status clients involved in criminal matters.
Legal Education
If you are charged with a crime, you have the right to an attorney and legal representation. Ignorance because of an indigent status is not a good reason to forgo this representation.
The Best Second Chance Comes With Good Representation
The best opportunity for a "Second Chance" is not always through pleading guilty and accepting parole. Proper legal representation, education, and counseling will help to ensure that indigent status clients get the best opportunity for a "Legitimate Second Chance".

We at The Indigent Project believes that this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King also applies to those of indigent status who have been charged with a crime. We recognized that just because you have been charged with a crime doesn't mean that you are guilty of that crime. If the court assigns one for our attorney partners to represent an indigent status client, then we want to help ensure that individual receives that best possible legal education, counseling, and representation possible.
